Ready for the island? Five beautiful places by the sea
From Menorca to Crete and from Hiddensee to La Palma – we've compiled a list of beautiful vacation spots for you that truly immerse yourself in the island spirit. All you have to do is decide which direction you'd like to head. Off to the island!
Menorca: The little sister – a particularly sweet place to stay
The Ses Sucreres (loosely translated: his sweets) is nestled in the authentic landscape of Menorca and the historic neighborhood of the town of Ferreries. Guests overlook the green garden oasis in the courtyard and are surrounded by chirping birds. The house, with six guest rooms, was built in the early 19th century. The renovation was carried out with a special eye for the architectural beauty and authenticity of the building. The island is something like the quieter little sister of Mallorca, and Ses Sucreres also has a sister property in the capital, Mao – the city hotel. Hevresac.
The combination of original elements, art, and a minimalist, contemporary, and personal touch is accompanied by very friendly service. The hosts aim to show Menorca from a different perspective; they are always available for conversation and answer questions about Menorca's past and future. And, of course, they also know where the most beautiful beaches are.
As certified partners of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve, they made conscious choices from the outset, such as filtered and reverse osmosis water, natural building materials, green energy, and regional breakfast ingredients from local retailers. It's a place to arrive, enjoy, and return!
Hiddensee: The quiet one – relaxation with guaranteed sunshine
In the guesthouse LONG PLACE On Hiddensee, guests enjoy stunning views of the Bodden and the picturesque marina. The guesthouse is the perfect place to unwind. The secluded location, despite its proximity to the main town of Vitte, and the spacious grounds always allow for a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. And the beach is just 250 meters away.
The hosts themselves spent many years as holiday guests on Hiddensee. For them, the island has become a place of longing and refuge. They now want to share this place with their guests. Vacationers will find here not an anonymous hotel, but a home and employees who are committed to fair working conditions and want to make every stay something truly special.
The LANGE ORT guesthouse lay dormant for a long time—after its revitalization and renovation, many plans are now underway, including the development of a cultural program with readings, concerts, and much more. Hiddensee is one of the few "car-free islands" and, as a national park island, is one of the few unspoiled areas in Germany. Added to that, it enjoys the most hours of sunshine in all of Germany. What more could you want?

Corfu: The Historical – healthy olives and Greek lifestyle
The olive farm Dr. Kavvadia's Farm The farm has existed since the early 19th century and was purchased by the current owner's grandfather in the 50s. Ten years ago, Apostolos and his wife took over the farm and restructured it sustainably. The farm's name goes back to his grandfather, who, as a doctor, swore by the healing properties of olive oil. His particularly gentle care and harvesting of the traditional olive trees improved the quality of the oil so sustainably that it has now won multiple awards.
The two guesthouses are designed to offer visitors maximum relaxation and a sense of connection to nature. Cats, dogs, and chickens live here harmoniously. The newer guesthouse is also the oldest building on the property and was formerly the camp. It is now a beautifully renovated house with a covered veranda equipped with a hammock and sun loungers. The other guesthouse is slightly larger and was formerly the stable. With its exposed roof beams and abundant wooden furniture, it has a more rustic feel, and its bright colors immediately put you in a good mood.
Attractive excursion destinations such as the city of Corfu Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Villa Braila, which was rebuilt by Empress Sissi, and the monastery on Mouse Island bear witness to the island's eventful history.
La Palma: The Wild – Volcanoes, Hiking and Surfing
The Gran Villa Palmera on La Palma is a paradise for all art lovers, nature lovers, and those seeking relaxation. Owners Bernd Rathjen and Asgard Niemeier acquired the 1980s house from an acquaintance in May 2021 and renovated it sustainably.
The Gran Villa Palmera is not just a vacation home, but a very personal second home for guests. Stylistically, the house is a blend of local and classic elements, with a touch of Palm Springs and Brazilian Modernism from the 1960s and 1970s. Classic furniture by Eames, Mies van der Rohe, and Scandinavian designers blend perfectly with the interior. Each room, along with the carefully selected works of art, has its own color scheme and charm. Of course, there's also a stunning garden with a pool and sea views.
But design isn't the only focus of the villa; sustainability is also a top priority. It was important to the hosts to harness the island's sunshine as energy for the house.
La Palma is rocky and densely forested, with several volcanoes. It is also known as the "Green Island." The mild climate in winter and the refreshing breeze in summer always make a time on the island a dream vacation.

Procida: The Secret One – La Dolce Vita
The unique thing about Procida Camp & Resort is the special charm that defines this place. And of course, the colorful mix of different accommodations, as well as the beautiful lemon trees and flowers surrounding it.
There are various accommodations: tents with elegantly designed interiors, Airstreams, and exclusive luxury camping caravans that seem as if they've always been there, with their shiny shells and silver rivets glistening in the Mediterranean sun. The interiors are cozy and comfortable, and the design is modern. The Garden Suite welcomes guests in a cozy, tasteful atmosphere. The Luxury Bungalow is the ideal place to enjoy the island's pleasant microclimate. It was designed to give guests a feeling of being at home on the beautiful island of Procida, surrounded by pastel colors and unspoiled nature.
In 2019, the famous blue door opened to guests for the first time. The resort was created from an existing traditional southern Italian campsite and modernized by the hosts. The aim is to offer a special kind of outdoor accommodation with a modern design. The hosts' goal is to bring gentle, sustainable tourism to this still very pristine island.
Procida is located in the immediate vicinity of Ischia and Capri. Yet life is much more leisurely here. Orange and lemon trees grow everywhere, fishermen sit in front of their houses mending their nets, and a few cats lie dreamily in the midday sun—a true island dream.
