Five beautiful travel destinations at fair prices
We have selected five budget-friendly travel destinations in Europe that are guaranteed to be relaxing and exciting. This means you have more budget left in your travel budget for excursions, sights and culinary highlights.
1. Costa Blanca: A refuge on Spain's white coast
Im Refuge Marnes it is wonderfully quiet. The terraced landscape was created almost 3.000 years ago to enable agriculture in the area around Alicante. The hosts bought the refuge over 20 years ago and lovingly renovated it. The result is three holiday homes, six rooms with breakfast and a magical glamping tent (see 1st picture above). Prices range between 85 and 94 euros depending on the season and type of accommodation.
The two hosts are very happy to run the refuge with the aim of further increasing sustainability in order to become the greenest holiday destination in Spain. Much of the furniture is second-hand and is combined with antiques and modern items. Dogs, cats and donkeys live on the extensive grounds. The sea and numerous excursion destinations such as the cities of Alicante and Valencia are not far from the accommodation. But the in-house pool is also wonderful for a long siesta.
2. Sardinia: Authentic living on an orange farm
Im Luna & Limoni you can spend relaxing days in the middle of an orange and lemon plantation. The simple but very tastefully furnished holiday homes with their own terrace or garden invite you to cook, relax, read or play together. The small pool provides refreshment all day long and the numerous cats on the property are great fun for everyone. There is also a shared barbecue area and an outdoor pizza oven for the five holiday homes.
In the surrounding area there are beautiful sandy beaches on the Costa Rei (Gold Coast) with very good restaurants, hiking opportunities and small towns to explore. If you have any questions or need tips, you can always ask the friendly Gerardi family, who also live on site. Overnight stays here cost from 80 euros, depending on the season. And the Italian way of life is free.
3. Allgäu: Royal mountain hut with majestic views
The Berghüs am Grünten is located in Sonthofen, the southernmost town in Germany, in the middle of the Upper Allgäu countryside. The view of the Grünten massif with its three imposing peaks is breathtaking. The house originally served as a royal forester's lodge and some of the original extensions have been preserved to this day. The Esterl family bought the mountain hut and lovingly renovated it. The aim was to preserve the traditional buildings as much as possible while at the same time creating modern accommodation for holiday guests. The pretty double rooms are available from just 70 euros, depending on the season.
Today, the mountain inn is not only known for its excellent food, but also for its commitment to preserving biodiversity in the mountain forest. The animals also appreciate the tranquility of the place - eagles, peregrine falcons, eagle owls and tawny owls circle majestically in the sky.
4. Brittany: Big dunes and great peace
The La Vagabonde is a place of well-being where authenticity and sustainability come together. The dream of creating such a place arose during the time when the hosts spent their professional lives in several countries. The proximity to the sea, but also the many hiking trails in the area make a pleasant holiday possible. Just enjoying your morning coffee on the terrace while listening to the distant sound of the sea and the birdsong is a special experience.
The minimalist furnishings are a mix of antiques and contemporary elements. Each room has been individually and harmoniously designed, inspired by the soft colors of the sand and the surrounding moors. The old stone house is cozy and comfortable with many small details. The house for up to five people can be rented from 80 euros, depending on the season. So much nature and peace is just good for you.
5. Finland: Coolcation in a former lighthouse
If you don’t like it too hot in summer, you can enjoy the long days with pleasant temperatures in Finland. Tankar Inn you will be greeted by seabirds and the sea breeze. The accommodation was formerly a pilot station and since its renovation it has served as accommodation on the lighthouse island.
The bed and breakfast has eight double rooms with shared showers and toilets. Rooms are available from 95 euros, depending on the season. The well-equipped kitchen and large living area can also be converted into a cozy meeting room. The lighthouse's furnishings are timeless and feature Finnish elements. The large windows also make the rooms very bright and offer a great view. After a day in nature, you can relax in the sauna in the evening, while the bright Nordic summer night bathes everything in atmospheric light. It's magical!
Conclusion
The advantages of budget-friendly accommodation are obvious - you don't have to miss out on great excursions and can, at best, extend your trip a little. Accommodation with its own kitchen also reduces expenses and at the same time increases flexibility because you are not tied to the opening times of the local restaurants. And of course these budget-friendly travel destinations are no less beautiful, they are often not in the tourist hotspots, which is why everything is a little cheaper and less crowded.
