Wake up with a sea view in the beach villas on Usedom

Arrive. SPREAD. Breathe a sigh of relief

Located directly on the beach promenade in Heringsdorf on Usedom, the villas offer great sea views and many excursion options. Like many Berliners, I know the island of Usedom from my childhood, which is why I'm even more excited about it Pineblue Villas to be able to visit there. After a 3-hour drive by car, I'm already there. Arrive. Breathe a sigh of relief and smell the sea air. The accommodation can also be reached by train. The train station is just a 10-minute walk away

Accommodation on Usedom

A house with character

I am greeted by Tiffany Rausch, one of the hosts. She shows me the old villa and its rooms. As I enter, I am greeted by dim lighting and a smell of old and new. The Art Nouveau villa and the former coach house have been around since 1896. The accommodation options were supplemented by three modern villas, which are also located in the 10.000 m² listed park. The park is watered by its own well. The Old Villa has seven apartments, all of which have been designed differently, each with a lot of dedication and attention to detail. I use the wide gallery staircase with its elaborate carvings to reach the first floor, where my apartment “Blue Sprinkle” is located. Everything here is harmoniously decorated in bluish tones. The walls are decorated with selected, stylish art. A basket of regional products is available as a small welcome gift. This also includes products from the Usedom island mill. A special feature of the Pineblue Villas is that all doors can be opened without a key. The access is activated via an app and I only have to think about my cell phone when I leave the accommodation.

The first morning – waking up to a sea view

After a comfortable night in the suite's large king-size bed, I wake up to a view of the freestanding bathtub with a sea view behind it. What a dream. I make myself a coffee, grab my book and make myself comfortable in bed again. After a long breakfast I am ready for the day. First of all, of course, I have to go to the beach. It takes less than 2 minutes to walk from the property's garden gate and I already have sand under my shoes. First I breathe in a big breeze of sea air – Ahh, that feels good. I look right and left down the beach and am happy about the few people I see. One of the advantages of coming here in spring.

A stone's throw to Poland

The Kaiserbad Heringsdorf is located in the immediate vicinity of the Polish border. So close that I walked the beach for a good hour and found myself in Świnoujście. The seafront promenade is newly renovated and there are many open restaurants and cafes. It's teeming with life, lots of young people and families milling about on this sunny Saturday afternoon. I stroll through the small town and sit down in one of the restaurants to enjoy a portion of pieroggi.

Private relaxation in the in-house spa area

A pleasant warmth and pleasant light greets me as I open the door to the spa area. I have two hours of pure relaxation ahead of me that I can enjoy exclusively. You can choose between a 60 degree organic sauna in which pleasant music is played and a 90 degree Finnish sauna in which I can choose the scent for my infusion. I choose a mix of orange, carnation and cedar. Between infusions I relax in the relaxation area, close my eyes and reflect on the day. At the end I treat myself to a salt peeling, which promotes blood circulation. Now I feel completely relaxed and pampered.

Dinner in the drawing room

Each of the suites has its own small kitchenette, but I decide to cook my dinner in the large communal kitchen on the ground floor of the Old Villa. Here I have enough space, utensils and spices. Next door in the salon I enjoy my meal with good music and a glass of wine.

Space for peace and company

What I particularly like about the Pineblue Villas concept is that it offers a lot of space and space for your own needs, but at the same time spaces for being together. The apartments and villas on the property are designed to offer plenty of space for freedom, even in bad weather, thanks to their open spaces and large windows. During meals and in between, the large communal kitchen and the adjoining lounge offer space for cooking and eating together. The large park also offers many opportunities for individual leisure activities, as well as the opportunity to get together thanks to the terraces. Heat and electricity are generated via an in-house combined heat and power plant and the excess electricity is fed back into the power grid.

Relax in the beach hotel

To the cliffs by bike

The next day I rent one of the hotel's own e-bikes and explore the area in the direction of the three imperial baths of Heringsdorf, Ahlbeck and Bansin. The path takes me along the beach promenade and finally through the forest to the forester's lodge, where I park the bike and enjoy a view over the cliffs - wonderful. Few people are out and about at this time of year. I enjoy the peace and quiet and ponder my thoughts. Only the screeching of the seagulls and the sound of the sea can be heard. On the way back I stop at Café Asgard, which is the oldest café on the island. All the walls are lined with floral fabric, which reminds me of my grandma. I immediately feel good and allow myself a piece of strawberry cake alongside a coffee. Then I go to the end of the pier, where the wind blows around my ears. This is a real Baltic Sea weather feeling. On the way back to my bike, I stroll past the various souvenir shops and am happy about the typical Baltic Sea souvenirs that can be purchased here.

One last breath

Before I leave, the second host, Thomas Eick, invites me to have a chat with tea and biscuits. From the way he, as a local, talks about his island, I can tell how much he cares about its future. During longer stays, he also likes to show guests his special corners of the island and make recommendations. Before I get into the car, my gaze wanders towards the sea again, I take another deep breath, close my eyes and am grateful for this wonderful break.
