fairwärts – the competition for responsible tourism

The fairwärts Good Practice Competition is part of a multi-year educational project (2023-2024), funded by Commitment Global on behalf of Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Target of fairward is to motivate tourism companies and organizations to deal with issues relating to the fields of action of sustainable tourism development, to position themselves in a more sustainable manner and thus to contribute to a sustainable transformation of tourism.

From September 4th, 2023 to December 22nd, 2023, all tour operators, accommodations and destinations based in Germany can participate in the four main topics “Good job for everyone","Circular Economy","Climate resilience" and "Guest Involvement" apply. We are looking for outstanding 'good practices' - this means innovative and creative measures, actions or concepts for the holistic and credible promotion of ecological and socially responsible tourism.

An independent jury of tourism and sustainability experts selects the winners from all submissions, who can look forward to individual sustainability workshops from TourCert experts as a competition prize.

It will be aligned fairwärts competition for responsible tourism from the consulting and certification organization TourCert together with KATE Environment & Development. 

Free knowledge modules

Participants and other interested parties have the opportunity to take part in the fairwärts website with the help of free and practice-oriented knowledge offerings in the form of e-learning, explanatory videos and web seminars on sustainability topics and to make you fit for the transformation. What you have learned should also help you reflect on your own actions and submit good practices.

 

The independent certification organization TourCert gGmbH was founded in 2009 and has set itself the task of promoting ecological, social and economic corporate responsibility in tourism. TourCert advises and supports tourism companies and destinations in the implementation of a sustainable and successful economy and provides qualifications in this regard with seminars and online training courses from the TourCert Academy. The company also certifies and awards the TourCert seal for sustainability and corporate responsibility in tourism. In addition, TourCert offers the sustainability qualification TourCert Qualified.

KATE Environment & Development eV is a non-profit consulting and educational organization in Stuttgart. For over 20 years, the KATE team has been supporting and empowering companies and organizations in introducing, maintaining and digitalizing their climate and sustainability management. On behalf of various federal ministries, we are breaking new ground as part of our project work and developing sustainable solutions and systems in the areas of sustainability management, climate and climate adaptation, employee participation, education for sustainable development and development cooperation in sustainable tourism in Latin America.
