Peasant Kate Klein Thurow

Five places for less than a hundred euros

In order to treat yourself to many great holidays this year despite rising prices, we have put together five of our favorite accommodations for you, which are particularly cheap, beautiful and sustainable. Depending on the season, overnight stays here cost less than XNUMX euros. And there are even many nice activities that the hosts offer or are offered in the area and that are also easy on the wallet. Whether learning to cook, riding a bike, dancing the tango, swimming or feeding sheep - we are sure there is something for everyone. The composition ranges from hotel to glamping and from Elba to Brandenburg. We wish you many happy holidays at our five special locations.

1.  Mecklenburg-West Pomerania - a modern cottage for bike lovers and nature fans

The "Bauernkate" Klein-Thurow is surrounded by nature. The listed ensemble was lovingly restored in great detail by the operators Jutta and Frank Strauss. The mixture of historical furnishings with regional hand-made rural unique pieces is tasteful and comfortable at the same time. A very special experience is the overnight stay in the Heu-Hostel.

The garden with pond, sheep paddock and chirping birds is beautiful. You can swim in the nearby lake and in the evening there are free frog concerts on the jetty.

As a “bicycle-friendly inn”, cyclists are provided with detailed maps; Repair tools and an air pump are available, as well as secure storage for bicycles and space to dry clothes. There are also many beautiful cycle paths in the area.

2. Elba - unwind and glamping with sea views

The "Orto di Mare" is a beautiful campsite on the south coast of Elba. Since 2001, the Vittoria farm has also been a campsite with tent pitches, camper pitches, a yurt, glamping tents with kitchenettes and some holiday apartments. As a special feature, there is even a price reduction of ten percent for guests arriving sustainably (i.e. without a car or motorcycle).

Many fresh products and organic ice cream are available in the farm shop. You can also order home-made delicacies such as bread and jam all day long in the small restaurant. Berries, apples, herbs, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and much more grow on the farm.

There are hammocks everywhere, a playground, table tennis tables and the sea is just a few minutes' walk away so that you can really unwind. There's even a hot tub under the stars. This alternative oasis really offers plenty of relaxation at home.

3.  Brandenburg – happy hours on foot, by bike and on the ferry

The farm is a typical Brandenburg farm and is located directly on the Elbradweg. The “Elbeglück” accommodation is run by Frîa Hagen and Volker Warning, both of whom are passionate hosts. It is important to them that old houses are preserved in their character and charm and renovated in accordance with monument protection. The main house was built around the turn of the century and the superb garden dining room is where a thatched stable once stood.

In 2017 they took over the guesthouse and have lovingly renovated it and skilfully incorporated their favorite material wood in many places. Stylish rooms have been created with natural lime colours, old floorboards and pieces of furniture from earlier times, which together create a cozy atmosphere.

The town and the surrounding area are ideal for exploring on foot and by bike. There is a lot to discover. Especially many animals that also live on the farm. However, the "kingfisher" is the name of the event barn at the port, where exciting seminars and courses are also offered. It is important to Frîa and Volker that their guests spend an unforgettable time in Elbeglück and, in the truest sense of the word, a feeling of happiness take home.

4. Umbria - Tango and traditional cuisine ensure passionate moments

The "Villa La Rogaia" is an artists' house in which creativity is combined with Italian joie de vivre. The artist Wolfgang Sandt and his wife Annette Greifenhagen bought it over 25 years ago and renovated it with the help of a small local construction company, but mainly doing it themselves. Artwork and creative details are everywhere in the garden.

Six holiday apartments, all with their own small terraces, are available to guests. Families with children even get a discount of 50 euros per week and apartment - at all times of the year.

In addition to cooking courses, writing and painting courses, there are mainly tango classes from international dance luminaries. In addition, Mama Ornella spoils all guests with the best Umbrian food. If you want, you can take part in a cooking class with Ornella regional cuisine get to know better. What is cooked is what is seasonal and what is traditional in Umbria, such as legumes, wild asparagus, mushrooms and truffles and game.

5.   Crete - a rustic accommodation a thousand meters above the sea

A very special atmosphere can be felt in these more than 300-year-old houses, in which the stress can be quickly shaken off. If you want to spend your days relaxing, this is the place for you. The "Aspros Potamos“ is also the oldest settlement in the southeast of Crete and is a thousand meters above sea level.

The equipment of the traditional accommodation is kept very simple and ecologically efficient, but offers everything you need - as long as sockets are not one of them. Of course, you can still charge your mobile devices: in the cozy, small common room, where you can also have a nice chat with the other guests. The cottages are surrounded by rocks in a beautiful gorge where the so-called "White River" (Aspros Potamos) meanders. The gorge is the ideal starting point for many beautiful hikes or visits to one of the original mountain villages.

It is just 1.000 meters to the village by the sea, where there are good regional Cretan shops and many cozy taverns. The coast has everything you could wish for, from the secluded pebbly beach cove to the sandy beach at Makry-Gialos with its immensely clear turquoise waters. In the bars you can enjoy your drinks undisturbed for hours on deckchairs with parasols.

You can end the evening relaxed with a glass of wine on your own terrace and watch the sun disappear behind the mountains.

Dear Maria, for current city tips in Hamburg I can highly recommend the “With pleasure” page. In Hamburg itself we have the historic harbor crane, which is part of the harbor, as an overnight option. I definitely wish you a great time in the Hanseatic city. Kind regards, Geraldine
