Wurzenberg - the special vacation in southern Styria
The "Wurzenberg" is a family-run lodge hotel. Originally emerged from the father's winery, it is located in an infinitely wide and green vineyard landscape in the middle of southern Styria. And it is precisely this beautiful natural landscape that you can see here at any time when you move into one of the nature park rooms or one of the hotel's panorama lodges for your vacation. The lodges listen to melodious names such as “apricot”, “birch” and, more recently, “thyme”.

The "Thymianlodge 360 °" is the latest addition to the Wurzenberg and the host family is proud of it. Created in the lockdown winter 2020, the lodge is located in one of the most breathtaking places in the Wurzenberg and impresses with its modern architecture. With her Norwegian roots, it was particularly important to the hostess to incorporate Scandinavian elements into both the construction and the furnishing. The modern architecture of the Wurzenberg lodges is therefore a real niche in southern Styria.
In addition to the modern architecture, it is the secluded location of the thyme lodge on the slope that enchants. From the highest point of the South Styrian wine country you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view. The all-round glazing of the lodge provides a view of the beautiful surroundings, including one of the last orchid flower meadows in the region. In addition to colorful flowers, the namesake of the spectacular lodge also grows on the slope and thus ensures that there is always a spicy scent of wild thyme in the air.
As with the other lodges, sustainability aspects also played a central role in the construction of the Thyme Lodge. The lodge is a solid wood construction that was insulated with natural materials and has a wooden floor. The all-round sun protection glazing is particularly energy-saving and care has been taken to employ only craftsmen from the region.
South Styrian natural cosmetics and other specialties
The Thyme Lodge offers space for two people and consists of a spacious living / sleeping area of around 40 square meters. In addition to the large box spring bed made of natural materials, you will also find a comfortable couch on which you can enjoy the well-groomed idleness to the fullest. In the elegantly designed bathroom, natural cosmetic products from southern Styria are available, with which you can pamper yourself.
In addition to the local natural cosmetics in the bathroom, the host family insists on introducing their guests to the culinary specialties of the region. Breakfast boxes, full of delicious South Styrian specialties, are delivered directly to the lodges every day. The boxes contain, for example, products from small farms in the area and the local bakery, as well as homemade jams and fresh herbs from our own garden.
Pajama breakfast with a spectacular view
With the “pajama breakfast”, which you can choose to enjoy in a wonderfully relaxed manner on the private viewing terrace, there are different variations to choose from for every taste. This ensures a stress-free start to the day and at the same time gives enough space to fully absorb the breathtaking outside of the Wurzenberg.
Incidentally, the entire concept of the Wurzenberg is designed so that guests can enjoy absolute peace and quiet. Vacation for me, just. That goes down well. And so there have been many regular guests for years, who enthusiastically return again and again. Further lodges have long been in the planning stage and their construction has already been approved.
Wine and meadow philosophy of the nature park partner
In addition to the careful cooperation with its guests, the Wurzenberg, as a partner company of the nature park partners, has also officially committed itself to a conscious approach to nature. The surrounding meadows, pastures, vineyards and forests are best explored on foot or by bike anyway. The wildly romantic southern Styria is one of the most attractive wine-growing regions in Europe - steep hills, idyllic farmsteads and fairytale views characterize the landscape here.
