Brandenburg calling: Five places in the country

Anyone who thinks a weekend trip to Brandenburg's greenery is boring has not yet been out in an electric car. In addition to the completely different driving experience and pleasure, it is above all the thrill that arises when the range is reduced. So the trip to Brandenburg is like a little adventure - as I was able to discover on the occasion of my birthday.

WHERE ONLY DO WE CHARGE OUR ELECTRIC CAR?

So last year we moved with an electric car from the car sharing provider "WeShare" to a tranquil town not far from Potsdam. While our destination could still be reached with a fully charged electric car without any problems, we knew from the start that we would have to charge on the way back before Berlin, where there are, as is well known, numerous charging stations. But what does it all look like in Brandenburg?

To our surprise, there are also numerous charging stations here, which ensure that you get home carefree. Thanks to the app "plug surfing“You can find out about the charging infrastructure on site at any time and even before you start your journey. There are also numerous quick charging stations that charge the electric car in just 30 minutes. During the rental period, the WeShare app also provides information about all available charging stations in the vicinity.

A PLEASANT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF POTSDAM'S OLD TOWN

In the end, we were spoiled for choice between a remote charging station in the countryside, where you could have had a great picnic, or a central charging station in the old town of Potsdam. We decided without further ado for the latter and combined the stopover with a walk through the state capital of Brandenburg. We did not miss the opportunity to buy pottery - for our next electric adventure, including stops and a picnic in the countryside.

3. EXPERIENCE SMALL DORFIDYLL IN THE “FOX AND RABBIT” BED & BREAKFAST

Anyone who longs for a picture-perfect village idyll is in the Bed & Breakfast "Fox and hare“In the village of Ribbeck at exactly the right address. In addition to a castle, there are numerous cafes and restaurants as well as a children's farm, a distillery, a historic classroom and much more to explore in an extensive park landscape. And right in the middle is the B&B "Fuchs und Hase".

UNIQUE OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE IN THE FORMER, HISTORICAL CATTLE BARN

The owners have conjured up unique accommodation from the former cattle barn from the 19th century. During the renovation, they made sure to preserve as much of the existing building fabric as possible. So there are thick walls made of solid brickwork and Prussian cap ceilings. Interventions were only made selectively to modernize the sight.

So you can look forward to large, light-flooded rooms with great comfort. The rather minimalist furnishings focus on the essentials and the large window fronts offer a great view of the pretty landscape.

4. On an inconspicuous former East German small town street you come to a very special holiday home.

The listed brick building from 1860 is surrounded by large old trees and hides a secret under its roof. Because the rear part of the building, which was originally a stable, was converted into the Catholic chapel Maria von den Engeln in 1917. Including pointed barrel vault with angel's head decoration. Today it has been deconsecrated and serves as a huge living/meditation/play room for residents and guests of the former vicarage.

When you enter the house, it's like coming to good friends who are traveling and have left a note "Make yourself at home" we'll be back later.

In front of the church portal there is a garden with a fireplace between the stables and the ruins of the barn. An old rusty gate leads in between to nowhere over the fields and forests of the Prignitz region. The least densely populated area of Germany is full of cycling and hiking trails and migratory birds. Here foxes and rabbits say good night and many deer come to visit.
