Handmade furniture made from recycled timber
“Creating new things from old” is the passion that Mike and his partner Coco shared in 2015 for the Berlin upcycling furniture brand "JOHANENLIES" founds. According to this philosophy, the two of them design and manufacture pieces of furniture and accessories from recycled timber together with regional producers. The ecologically manufactured furniture not only looks great, but is also an aesthetic alternative to run-of-the-mill furniture for accommodation operators.
The wooden furniture is sometimes combined with natural stone, sometimes with natural steel
The timber is reprocessed in loving and detailed manual work. The studied fashion and design manager Coco, who already worked for designers like Alexander Wang in New York, then gives the timber furniture elegant, purist upgrades.
Natural stones such as marble, serpentinite or travertine are combined in their designs with recycled wood from pine, oak or walnut as well as ecological linoleum or durable, powder-coated or natural steel. Since 2017, high-quality upholstery fabrics have been complementing the variety of materials from JOHANENLIES. The special thing about it: Each piece of furniture can be individually adapted by the customer in terms of materials and dimensions.
JOHANENLIES also develops holistic interior concepts
In addition to the classics of the regular collections, JOHANENLIES develops holistic interior concepts. In this way, individually manufactured pieces of furniture were created that adapt to the needs of the respective customer in terms of shape and functionality. With their restrained appearance, they give the rooms a clear and at the same time original line.
The JOHANENLIES founding team is committed to a sustainable future
JOHANENLIES also supports the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation with part of the proceeds. The organization has been planting a tree on Mexico's Yucatán peninsula for every euro donated since 2014 and trains children in academies to become ambassadors for climate justice.
