Above all, city-weary residents of Munich who are looking for a natural excursion destination will find what they are looking for here. The suspension bridge in Hunsrück is reminiscent of the largest pedestrian bridge in Switzerland

The Charles Kuonen suspension bridge in Switzerland, with its 2017 meter length, has been known as the "longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world" since it opened in 494. The fact that in Germany, to be precise in Rhineland-Palatinate, there is a suspension bridge that is almost as big as that, may not be the case. The Geierlay suspension bridge is 360 meters long and hovers awesome 100 meters above sea level. So you should be free from giddiness when visiting. You will be rewarded with a unique view over the Hunsrück.

6. Enjoy a wonderful view like in Tuscany (in Brandenburg)

The Uckermark is also known as the Tuscany of the North

The Uckermark in Brandenburg is sometimes referred to as the Tuscany of the north. Here you will find the gently rolling hills that are typical of Tuscany, which in turn are rather untypical for the otherwise flat Brandenburg. When the sun wakes up in the morning and wafts of mist spread over the fields, you quickly get a sense of yourself in Italy. The only difference is that poplars grow here instead of cypresses.

Our penultimate stop is the Jasmund National Park on the island of Rügen. The smallest national park in Germany is one of the most beautiful corners of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and not only makes fans of Greek islands happy. Just like in Lefkada, there is a white, shining chalk coast and an extensive hiking and cycling system in the Jasmund National Park. Walking along the white chalk cliffs with a view of the wide sea is a very special experience.

Wow, I didn't know that there were such beautiful places in Germany. I always thought that I had to travel further afield to experience fascinating nature, which is probably not the case. I hope to be able to discover more of Germany in 2021. Super contribution!
