Five places to hike
Hiking is a lot of fun in these five places. In some places, parts of a long-distance hiking trail and breathtaking natural landscapes are tempting, where you can learn more about local herbs and mushrooms. Elsewhere, it's not just children's hearts that beat faster on an exciting night hike. A long walk on the beach can be more relaxing in Spain. At these five locations, hiking enthusiasts and those who want to become one can experience a vacation that suits their taste:
1. Finca Foyeta, Costa Blanca, Spain
Surrounded by olive and almond trees stands the Finca Foyeta. The self-sufficient eco-vacation home offers a wonderful view of the mountains and the sea. Here you can really relax and recharge your batteries. Afterwards you shouldn't miss to take part in one of the guided (herb) hikes.
A herbal hike through the region
During the hikes you can observe rare animal species such as scops, little owls and eagle owls. Even rarer plant species grow in this unspoilt area, which is why a hike in this region is more than worthwhile. If you want, you can also go on a horseback ride in the mountains. These are gladly organized for the guests.
It is a 25-minute drive to the beach of San Juan, which is ideal for long walks on the beach. A little bit of ocean feeling also brings the own salt water pool, which works almost without chlorine and is therefore great for the skin. If you want, you can also take a crash course in the production of olive oil. Here you learn how to recognize differences in quality and can also purchase organic olive oil as well as vegetables and herbal teas from the hotel's own garden, depending on the season.
2. Robins Nest, Hessen, Germany
In the middle of the triangle of Hesse, Lower Saxony and Thuringia is located Robin's nest. A small tree house oasis in the middle of a dense beech forest. Adventure seekers, those looking for relaxation and nature lovers will get their money's worth here.
The small self-sufficient village consists of three tree houses, a stilt tree house, a tree house sphere, a log cabin and five tree tents. They are all absolute eye-catchers in their very own way. There is something for every taste guaranteed.
Surrounded by idyllic circular hiking trails
As cozy as the tree houses are, there is a lot to experience in the area. The whole area is criss-crossed by idyllic (circular) hiking trails. Including the Werra Burgensteig, which leads to numerous castles and viewpoints along the Werra river. The X5H long-distance hiking trail is also located here. If that weren't enough, guided tours to learn about mushrooms and herbs as well as night hikes are often offered. Especially fun for children.
Then you can regain your strength in the “Waldbar” restaurant. Vegetarian and / or vegan forest dishes with herbs are served here. Everything in organic quality and from the region, of course. In order to be well taken care of on the way, there is the possibility to book special picnic baskets for excursions.
4. Art Lodge, Carinthia, Austria
The art lodge is located in the middle of the Nockberge Biosphere Park, a valuable natural and cultural landscape. Here, hikers can start right on the doorstep of the former "Rohrerhof" and discover countless animal and plant species. And all of this in the midst of a picturesque mountain backdrop.
After the hike, the biopool calls with mountain water quality
After a sweaty hike, the biopool with mountain water quality offers the necessary cooling. In the evening, a visit to the small sauna in the former carpenter's shed rounds off the day. At this point at the latest, the strained leg muscles will relax and you can look forward to the next day of hiking.
The hosts also present their constantly growing art collection here in the art lodge. The outdoor area is also artistically designed: on the approximately 70.000 square meter Alm, you can always discover new sculptures. It is precisely this mixture of art, nature and tranquility that makes the art lodge a very special place.
