Five places to slow down

Slowing down is more than just a trend. In a society in which you have to deliver more and more and things move faster and faster, more and more people long for peace and simplicity. Especially on vacation. Therefore we dedicate ourselves in this article to five places where you can find exactly this. Here you can find peace and quiet again and just do nothing. Far away from everyday stress, in these five places you can experience what the word decelerating means.

1. Hawkhill Resort, Southern Finland, Finland

The eight holiday homes of the Hawkhill Resort are located a good hour from Helsinki. Here log houses with a lot of comfort are waiting to be occupied by the guests. The pretty cottages can accommodate up to 10 guests, making the Hawkhill ideal for a vacation with friends. In general, the huts with their fully equipped kitchens are geared towards self-catering. However, if you want to be pampered all around, you can also book full or half board.

Log house outside - comfort inside and beautiful nature around it

Then there is more to enjoy the wonderful nature of the Nuuksio National Park, which wants to be discovered around it. Still untouched and overwhelmingly beautiful, you quickly lose yourself in the midst of nature and can leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you. The diverse activities that can be undertaken all year round also help: from guided (snowshoe) hikes to canoeing and swimming in the lake and riding tours in the forest, there is also the option of renting SUPs and bikes or taking a morning yoga class in the Day to start.

As befits Finland, each cottage has its own sauna. And so you can ponder the day in nature with an evening sauna, relax completely and switch off.

2. Sant'Egle, Tuscany, Italy

In the Agriturismo Sant'Egle you can enjoy the Italian flair of Tuscany to the fullest. Surrounded by the silence of nature, you can find yourself in a total of five suites and two luxurious glamping tents and enjoy a wonderful view of the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Watch the animals living in the wild with an organic breakfast in the garden

A day begins here with breakfast consisting of certified organic and homemade products as well as fruit and vegetables from our own garden. You are welcome to have breakfast in the garden and if you are lucky you can watch the wild animals that live in the area. After sufficient refreshment, you can choose to refresh yourself in the organic salt water pool, the hot spring or in one of the two whirlpools. If you are looking for more deceleration, you will find it in the varied detox offer of the agriturismo and can, for example, relax completely with a guided meditation or massage.

Those who want to relax actively in the meantime can look forward to an equally wide range of activities: You can choose to explore the region on foot or with the e-bike, which is rented by the accommodation, or you can experience the surroundings from the back of a horse out. Culture enthusiasts visit one of the sacred Etruscan sites, which are also worth seeing, and foodies look forward to the cooking classes or take part in a herb hike. Regardless of whether you want to relax actively or passively - you will find what you are looking for at Sant'Egle.

3. Backhaus Grüntal, Black Forest, Germany

In the Backhaus Grüntal you can immerse yourself in the ambience of our ancestors - in a world in which the clocks seem to go slower. In the midst of the evergreen Black Forest, life is like 100 years ago - without any hectic or technology. The former bakery looks delightful, almost like a doll's room.

Live like 100 years ago - without technology and hectic rush

Delicately painted farmhouse furniture, checkered beds and lots of nostalgic decorative elements such as the rose-decorated curtains stand here. In front of the house is the garden for sole use with a small bench and trees, roses on the house and goats and donkeys around it.

The breakfast basket that is delivered to the cottage every day is also very tasty. Here you will mainly find organic and regional products for self-sufficiency. A freshly boiled tea, consisting of herbs that you have collected yourself, goes well with it.

The house, the sauna and the bath tub are to be heated by the guests themselves. If you want, you can also help with feeding and caring for the animals or with collecting and chopping wood. Just like 100 years ago.

4. San Romerio, Graubünden, Switzerland

Alp San Romerio is located at 1.800 meters above sea level on a natural slope terrace. Surrounded by meadows, pastures and forests, you can still find intact nature here, far away from street noise and air. To get to the natural mountain hut, a hike of around 25 minutes is necessary, but the sweaty climb is worth the trip.

25 decelerating minutes

When hiking through the natural forests, you breathe fresh mountain air and already here you begin to imagine what a beautiful landscape will surround you for the next few days. The Alp lies in a natural hollow that is protected from wind and weather currents and thus ensures a Mediterranean climate in the middle of the Alps.

The day on the Alp starts with a regional breakfast, which is included in the room price. On the outdoor platform, you can then experience yoga in a completely different environment and with lots of fresh air. In addition, numerous cycling and hiking trails that start right outside the door lead through the charming landscape. After so much activity, you can finally let yourself be pampered back in the Ristoro San Romerio by the hearty regional dishes from the Poschiavo. If you want, you can book half or full board.

5. Crann Og Eco Farm, Galway, Ireland

There are many possibilities to stay at the Crann Og Eco Farm. Whether in the large round tent, in the Mongolian yurt or in one of the cozy huts. Here's something for every taste. Apart from the nave hut, which has a power connection, the other accommodations are off-grid, i.e. not connected to any supply networks. Instead, wood stoves and candles provide warmth and romantic light. Anyone who has always wanted to live self-sufficiently has come to the right place.

Crann Og is designed for self-sufficiency. A well-equipped communal kitchen in the Hogan - a round, indigenous wooden hut - is available for cooking and eating. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, a grill, fire pits and a pizza oven that invite creative cooking.

A six hectare natural paradise

On the approximately six hectare site, the guest will find a true paradise of sustainably designed nature. Over the years the area has been lovingly designed with vegetable and fruit gardens, wide meadows and all sorts of hidden corners with living willow tunnels and arches. Sheep and ponies graze near the pond and friendly dogs, chickens and geese run around in between. And an ancient Irish oak forest begins right behind the farm.

So there is a lot to discover here. And above all, you can walk around freely here and recollect your own connection with nature.

A tip for decelerating would be a balloon flight 😀 During the noiseless flight you can enjoy the view and internalize the peace 🙂 Very helpful. Kind regards
