Five places for glamping

Comfort when traveling has two extremes - either you choose the luxury hotel or you go camping. While you don't have to do without any comfort in the luxury hotels, you often look in vain for it when camping. On the other hand, you will find most of the campsites in the midst of the most beautiful natural scenery, whereas there may be additional journeys to the hotel. With trend glamping you don't have to choose between the two worlds, on the contrary. The word is composed of "glamor" and "camping". That shows very well what is at stake. Glamping combines the comfort of a hotel with the closeness to nature of camping. Instead of cramped two-man tents, you will find spacious, comfortable safari tents. Or even extravagant accommodations such as tiny houses or yurts.

So you don't have to walk far in the morning to plunge into nature. And conversely, in the evening you don't have to go far home. This leaves more time to look at the stars and enjoy a leisurely drink on your own terrace. Our five recommendations for your next glamping adventure in nature:

1. Karl Wohnwagon, Lower Austria (Austria)

The Karl Wohnwagon has been around 20 kilometers from Vienna since 2013. A tiny house that is completely self-sufficient between the vines. The furnishings here are mainly reminiscent of a hip, modern loft. Just on just six square meters. Here you can get a breath of dropping out air and fulfill your dream of an independent life. And be independent of all connections to the usual supply network for a few days.

Go on vacation independently

Located behind the Winzerhof Schöller in Nussdorf near Traismauer, you will really feel like hiking through the vines. It's good that the Karl Wohnwagon is right in the middle and you don't have to go far to get there. If you want to go further afield, you can also get into the hustle and bustle of Vienna and then go back to peace in the evening.

In the wagon you will find basics such as jam, honey, tea, coffee and salt and pepper. If you don't like cooking, you can enjoy regional specialties in the inns within walking distance, such as the "Landgasthaus Huber" or "da Josef".

2. Orti di Mare, Tuscany (Italy)

If you are looking for an alternative-themed glamping accommodation near the sea, you should visit the Orti di Mare. In the touristic dense landscape of Elba you will find a real oasis far away from the noisy holiday activities at this campsite on the southern edge of the island.

Here you will find numerous idyllic places between olive trees and vines

Different idyllic places between olive trees and grapevines and the hammocks that hang everywhere provide this feeling. In addition to spaces for tents and mobile homes, there is also a yurt, some glamping tents with terraces and shady pergolas, which ensure an unforgettable glamping experience.

Meanwhile, the small café-restaurant provides visitors with home-made delicacies from morning to evening. In the morning there is homemade bread from the wood oven with homemade jams. In the afternoon there is fish directly from the fisherman and meat from sustainable farming in the region. To satisfy the sweet tooth, there is homemade ice cream with fruits and herbs from the garden. Particularly nice: You can buy many delicacies such as bread, wine and olive oil in the small shop - so you can conjure up the Tuscan lifestyle again and again in your own four walls.

3. Vinha Da Manta, Centro Region (Portugal)

On the Vinha da Manta, the operators have created an ideal holiday resort in the middle of Portuguese nature. Here you sleep in spacious lodge tents, all of which are equipped with a kitchen. Woken by the sun, you can then sit on the terrace with freshly brewed coffee and let your gaze wander for miles over the valley.

So far, the region has hardly been developed for tourism, rather you will find many original villages and towns here. In the nearby Serra da Estrela National Park you can go on wonderful hikes and swim in the river. Or you can discover nature on the back of Da Manta's horses. Even beginners and the little guests, then on the pony, get their money's worth. A very special experience.

Jump into the natural pool and then relax in the hammock

On da Manta there is a unique natural pool that is filled with spring water and cleaned without chemicals. The aquatic plants do this in a completely natural way. The varied and natural-looking banks make bathing pleasure perfect for both non-swimmers and swimmers. And relaxing is also wonderful here, in the hammock or at the natural pool with a book.

Four times a week the operators offer joint dinners to which the guests are cordially invited. Fresh gourmet food is served here, naturally in organic quality. There is also a small shop where you can buy home-grown and homemade products such as fresh fruit and vegetables and herbs. So you can cook wonderfully fresh in your own lodge tent.

4. La Belle Verte, Brittany (France)

On the edge of Brittany in France lies La Belle Verte. Literally a beautiful, green place. Here you will find a 15 square meter "large" tiny house in the middle of a hundred-year-old orchard. Only natural materials were used during construction, which immediately create a very special atmosphere. The chirping of birds and the butterflies fluttering around make the nature experience perfect.

A massage on the flower meadow or a donkey milk bath

If you want, you can start the day relaxed and slow down with a massage in the middle of the colorful flower meadow. The bath made from fresh donkey milk with essential oils and orange blossom is also a special experience. The mini farm is a nice highlight for the little guests. There are chickens, goats, cats and a pony, all of which want to be petted.

For everyone who likes to be more active, there is plenty on offer in the vicinity. For example, you can discover the beauty of Brittany by bike or canoe. Or you can visit the medieval castles of Vitré and Fougères. There is much to see. And in the evening you can let the evening sun shine on your stomach in the herb garden.

Incidentally, the fact that environmental protection is taken really seriously here is shown by this nice incentive: Those who travel by public transport get a discount of five percent on the room rate in this little paradise.

5. Darjas Yurtas, Andalusia (Spain)

At Darjas Yurtas you sleep in yurts harmonized with Feng Shui. On a spacious 39 square meters, there is also a kitchenette and a large vanity with washbasin. The beautiful walk-in external spiral shower is very special. Nowhere else is it easier to start the day with a smile and just be, as here on the Costa del Sol in the middle of the Andalusian mountains in Spain.

Wellbeing is very important here

Yoga classes and meditations are also offered. There are treatments with fresh aloe vera leaves from our own cultivation and relaxation massages. In the evening, a wood-fired sauna with a sea view invites you to relax. If you don't get enough, you can also enjoy a natural hairdresser and other natural cosmetic treatments.

Also recommended are the river walks, where you can finally enjoy a picnic by the sea. At Darjas Yurtas, mainly vegetarian and vegan food is served, everything as ecological as possible and with a high proportion of fresh food, so that all guests can be pampered.

It is important for the operators to live as close to nature as possible and independent of the outside world. The guests should be able to participate and so you feel very comfortable and secure in an atmosphere characterized by joie de vivre and mindfulness.
