Brandenburg

On a discovery tour in Brandenburg

  • Get out of the city, breathe fresh air and recharge the batteries. Holidays in Brandenburg are becoming more and more popular, not only among stressed-out capital city residents. Nature lovers from all over the country also come here to explore the many nature parks and biosphere reserves. And for families with children there are many offers for holidays on beautiful farms.

We from the Good Travel Blog have also set out to enjoy nature and have discovered Brandenburg for you.

    Slow down everyday life

Many places in Brandenburg can be easily reached by train and bus, which in turn is good for the environment. If you are traveling from Berlin or the surrounding area, show you Nature triphow you can best achieve your goal. If you have more time, we recommend arriving by bike. Well-developed bike paths lead through Brandenburg's forests, making the journey an environmentally friendly experience. True to the motto: the journey is the goal.

    Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park

The area around the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park is full of lakes, moors and forests. In summer you can wonderfully explore the lake landscape by canoe or paddle boat and discover hidden swimming spots again and again. Remember: pack sunscreen and hat, because the risk of sunburn is higher on the water than on the land! In winter you can explore the area on the numerous cycling and hiking trails.

Incidentally, the rafting town of Lychen is a special tip. Many artists who particularly appreciate the proximity to Berlin have settled in this state-approved resort. In spring and autumn they invite you to take a tour of the “Red Thread” studio through the city center. The rafting museum is also interesting, where you can learn more about traditional handicrafts. The annual rafting festival takes place on the first weekend in August and is very popular. There you can watch how rafts are built and enjoy freshly smoked fish.

    Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve

Part of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011 with its rustling beech forests. In addition to the forest landscape, there are also a large number of lakes that are ideal for swimming in summer. A trip to the Schorfheide Wildlife Park is certainly an experience for children and animal lovers.

Here you can find native wildlife such as wolves and otters. But also rare, endangered animal species such as elk and wisents as well as Exmoor ponies and woolly pigs roam the wildlife park. In addition, the large adventure playground invites you to a cozy picnic and then you can go to the goats in the petting enclosure.

    Enjoy regional specialties

Regional is usually fresher and also wonderfully sustainable because long transport routes are no longer necessary. Brandenburg can also score here with a great variety and offers much more than Spreewald gherkins, which are of course also very tasty!

In areas close to the forest, such as the Schorfheide, there are wonderful traditional mushroom and game dishes. A refreshing beer goes well with it. In water-rich regions such as the Uckermark Lakes, fresh fish or smoked fish from our own production are served.

    Overnight on the farm

We always find it particularly nice to end a day like this in the middle of nature on a lovingly restored farm. On Good travel you will find particularly beautiful and sustainable accommodations. Cuddle up in natural wooden beds and let yourself be lulled to sleep to the sounds of nature. The next morning you might collect the breakfast eggs yourself and after a hearty breakfast you can go on a discovery tour through Brandenburg again.

Have we made you want to visit Brandenburg? On Good Travel you will find all the accommodations for your next one Brandenburg vacation.
