We met Christina, the founder of Loveco, for an interview and asked her our three questions.
What was or is your motivation behind LOVECO?
Our motivation is based on the devastating conditions in the fashion industry. Textile production is one of the dirtiest industries in the world. People are being exploited, our environment is being polluted and animals are being tortured for it. We want to fight these grievances. We draw our daily motivation from this and have founded LOVEO to show that one can also dress without exploitation.
What is your advice to our readers: What can you do specifically for a better future?
Minimize consumption, share more instead of owning and keep asking yourself: "Do I really need this?" Everyone has the choice. Do I continue as before and do I consume without questioning the conditions, or do I make a conscious decision. As consumers, we have a much stronger power than many think. Many steps often seem hopeless and like a drop in the bucket. But the point is that we encourage more and more people to act differently. Together we can move more. This is not always obvious at first glance. But it also helps to get the groups of conventional products to rethink.
How do travel and sustainability fit together for you?
If we learn to travel in harmony with the environment and nature again, then sustainability and travel go very well together for me. Mass tourism and the resulting environmental degradation must be avoided. Very few people want to forego flying. Who doesn't long for a bit of sun after a long, gray Berlin winter? I don’t like that. But we should try to avoid it as much as possible. You can also get to great destinations by train, bus or car. Even if that takes a little more time, we should learn to see the path as a goal again and not just the goal as a place to relax.
